For the first time, Jesus speaks clearly of his impending death. The disciples are shocked–but even more so by the statement that follows: “You too must die.” Anyone who is a disciple of Jesus will suffer loss for his kingdom. That is a fact. But, that’s not all that disciples can expect. The cross was not the end for Jesus, nor is suffering loss for the kingdom the end for his followers. Matthew 16:21-28
