When we get something we really want, it’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it? We love getting good gifts! But sometimes we find the things we really want turn out not to be good gifts after all–especially if it means we had to miss out on something better to get them. The nation of Israel found this out the hard way when they insisted on getting a human king, even though their request meant rejecting God as their king.
