We all know that we should obey God but obeying God is hard. It even sounds kind of negative when you say the words “obey God.” The question is why should we obey God? Why does God want us to obey Him? Doesn’t obeying God mean that I’m in for a pretty boring, mundane life where I can’t have any fun? Is God really just out to spoil our fun and make life hard for us? Solomon instructs us in Proverbs 1:7-9 that obedience to God is actually a beautiful thing. How does this ancient wisdom help us as we live in our modern world?
