Disguises are designed to conceal a deeper reality. Just as Clark Kent conceals Superman’s true identity, secret identities project one type of reality while hiding another. The best disguises are those that don’t seem like disguises at all. So, when Jesus says, “The Kingdom of God is at hand,” are we looking at Kingdom in disguise or as it truly is? Jesus’s answer to that question in Matthew 13:24–43 is a major catalyst for our hope for the future.
