Sermon: Putting God In His Place

“Putting God In His Place”

Surrounded by statues and idols that are totally dependent on the craftsman who fashioned them, Paul confronts his listeners with a vital attribute of God, namely his independence. Unlike idols who rely on human hands for their existence, God doesn’t need us. He doesn’t need anything. This characteristic not only assaults the pagan practice of idol worship, but challenges believers today.
